Brooke Grucella

My work explores how people are affected by the expectation to live within society’s rules and the consequences that come when one breaks from the “system.” I investigate opposites inherent in relationships, memory, and how divergence shapes a person’s view of the world. Sex, gender, politics, depression, fear, love, loss and social strata become characters within each piece. I want to document the gray areas in between and examine the moment at which realities collide.
